Moxahala Home Lost to Afternoon Fire

Zanesville Fire Chief Eric Waltemire said a home is a complete loss following a Saturday afternoon blaze.

The Zanesville Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of Moxahala Ave. after 5 p.m.

Upon arrival they encountered a two-story home with heavy flames on the first floor. Crews fought the flames from the outside because the home was not safe to enter. The department was able to confirm the occupant of the home is currently out of town and no one was inside at the time of the fire.

The blaze was able to destroy the roof before crews could contain it making the home a total loss. Genesis Community Ambulance. and the South Zanesville Fire Department were on scene to assist. The cause is currently under investigation.
