Ms. Frankie, Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Frankie, the female American Staffordshire Terrier is the Animal Shelter Society Pet of the Week.
Ms. Frankie is about 2-years-old and has been with the shelter for almost a year.
She does well around other animals, but because of the shelter’s policy, perspectives would still have to bring their other animals into the shelter for a proper meet and greet, says April Cohagen-Gibson, Animal Shelter Society General Manager.
“She came to us due to a separation in a relationship and that happens a lot with some of the surrenders that we get, but Frankie has a lot of energy so you have to be prepared if you want to come in and meet Frankie and adopt her,” Cohagen-Gibson said. “So she does come with a lot of energy so she’s going to need some room to run. We’re going to be looking at that when we do the adoption application that there’s a yard and some fencing.”
Even though Frankie does have a lot of energy, Cohagen-Gibson said that should still do well around younger children because of how intelligent and well trained she is when it comes to listening to commands.
The Animal Shelter Society is also preparing for their big Wellness Clinic that allows residents to get up-to-date on animal vaccinations.
“It takes very limited time. There’s a very limited time it takes to bring them in. You come in and our vet staff takes 10 to 15 minutes the most and then you’re back out. It’s very low cost and it’s for vaccinations and that’s very important in keeping your animal healthy,” Cohagen-Gibson stated.
This is a cheaper way for people to get the vaccinations done. The Wellness Clinic will begin on March 2nd and residents can call in to schedule an appointment.
