Multi Agency Resource Center for Flood Assistance

ROSEVILLE, Ohio – Severe flooding often impacts communities on so many levels that it demands a coordinated effort from public resource providers to render the necessary support.

A tri-county, Multi-Agency Resource Center has been established at the William H. Barker Community Center located on Karl Brown Road in Roseville. Nonprofits and government agencies from Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties have gathered to provide a centrally located destination that can offer ‘in-person’ information and support for area flood victims. 

“This was kind of headed up by the state EMA and our county EMA offices,” Roseville Village Administrator Jeff Slack said. “We have a lot of resources here. I mean, if people need help, this is the place to come. We have United Way, we have Red Cross, we have veterans association, health departments, It’s too many for me to remember all of them.”

One of the vendors attending the two-week-long event is the United Way. Melissa Lynn from the Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties location and Crystal Carroll from the Greater Dayton Area chapter explained their involvement as a ‘boots on the ground’ 2-1-1 information service.

“We are here you know, listening to what people needs are, trying to figure out who we can connect them with, making sure that they talk to everybody that is here and who might be able to help them in any way they need help,” Lynn said. “2-1-1 is a database of social service agencies,” Carroll added. “What we do… we have a live person 24-7, not A-I. You’ll call and you’ll basically go through a small interview and what we do is match the need with the social resource in the area.”

The resource event is slated to run between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, September 4th, at the William H. Barker Community Center on Karl Brown Road in Roseville. For more information, you can contact the Perry County Emergency Management Agency.
