Multiple Scholarships Available Through MCCF and Scholarship Central

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- Scholarships have always been beneficial when applying for post secondary education.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation along with Scholarship Central is currently accepting applications for over 50 scholarships that are available to the community.
Katie McCarty, the Director of Education at MCCF, said each scholarship has its own requirements, available for Muskingum County schools and schools outside of Muskingum County, but also for non-traditional students.
“We do have some scholarships that are actually looking for students that aren;t the top students so every student should be looking for scholarships if they’re planning to attend any type of post secondary education and it doesn’t even have to be college. We do have scholarships that are for Mid-East Adult Center if they’re thinking about going to get a certificate there or Zane State College has some certificate programs that are one year programs that also have the two year programs or the four year programs,” McCarty stated.
The goal for MCCF and Scholarship Central is to help lessen any cost or concern for residents, even if it’s just a $100 scholarship.
McCarty said to assist more with the scholarship applications, they are providing appointments online for applicants to register and go over the list of scholarships, find outside community scholarships and conduct an application process walk through.
“When it comes to trying to pay for higher education, there’s usually an expense and sometimes it is very costly for students to go to college so in order to help alleviate some of that money that concern, they should definitely apply for scholarships,” McCarty said. “Some scholarships are up to $10,000 or more in the amounts, but students should definitely apply for all scholarships they are eligible for to help them not have to pay out of pocket for those educational expenses or take out loans for them.”
The majority of the scholarships have a deadline of March 15th, however, McCarty said some deadline may come earlier or later so it’s important for applicants to view all scholarships as soon as possible at mccf.org under scholarship central.
