Muskingum Avenue closed for inspections and clean up

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Muskingum Avenue, also known, as Dug Road will be closed for a couple of days for inspections and clean up.
Michael West, a Street Foreman with the City, said the sanitation department needed to close the road to perform inspections.
“The sewer department they closed the road down today and tomorrow to do some storm inspections. We took the opportunity for the street department to come over and clean up the hillside where all of the debris fell,” said West.
Safety on Dug Road has been a big concern and recently re-opened after jersey barriers and a traffic light was installed. The updates are supposed to make the road safer for motorists, but the debris falling has been a hazard.
“We’ve had a few issues. We had 3 extra slips so we’re just trying to get them cleaned up,” said West. “It just gives it more room in case something else were to come down we can, you know, hit the jersey barriers.”
Dug Road is set to re-open Thursday morning.
