ZANESVILLE, Ohio-  City Council held their second meeting of the month, at Town Hall.

A major topic of discussion at City Council was the continued closure of Muskingum Avenue better known as ‘Dug Road.’ The road has been closed for months. The reason for the topic being brought up was Weasel Boy Brewing Company owner, Lori Wince said the current and future road closures worry local businesses.

“I think our loyal customers are still coming,” said Wince. “I think new people that are coming from out of town are still able to find us right now with the detour through downtown. 2018 concerns me a little bit with the 6th street bridge closure.”

City Council President, Daniel Vincent, said the city council understands the concerns the local businesses have, but the cost to completely fix the road would be over $2 million.

“The mayor did announce tonight that he is looking at something with the public safety director, Fred Buck, and Jay Bennett. He has an idea that may work that might be able to open a particular road, but he wants to wait until he gets it researched and find out whether or not it can work.”

Vincent said the road closure and future bridge closure is a concern for both the council and the Mayor. He states they are hopeful this plan will be successful.
