ZANESVILLE, OH – The people behind some of Muskingum County’s biggest industries are getting a little recognition for the work they do.

The Zanesville-Muskingum County Chamber of Commerce and Port Authority hosted its first Manufacturing Breakfast this morning at Zane State College. The event brought together local manufacturers, business leaders, and community partners to recognize the impact manufacturing has on the local community.

“There’s two reasons to recognize manufacturing. Number one, they employee thousands of individuals here in Muskingum County. Number two is to educate the folks that manufacturing has changed. Dr. Stewart talked about the old vision of what manufacturing was a dirty, dark, manufacturing facility. That’s changed. Now a days, they’re very clean and they’re brightly lit. So, we can help encourage future generations to consider manufacturing.” Chamber of Commerce President, Dana Matz said.

Guests also heard from featured speakers from Stewart Glapat and JobsOhio. Organizers say the morning was not only about celebrating where local manufacturing is today but also starting conversations about its future.

“Dr. Stewart from Stewart Glapat talked about the long-term growth of their company, and how things have changed in the delivery of products to and from, and the addition of robotics and where that is headed. Then Karthik Avadhanula, from JobsOhio talked about advanced manufacturing and all the changes that are going on. But most importantly, how significant the state of Ohio is in manufacturing. We’re number 3 in the country.” Matz said.

Organizers say the event was designed to create connections while recognizing the manufacturers helping Muskingum County grow.
