ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Commissioners met with Community Leaders today to further discuss the Short Term Rental Tax.

Beginning in July, a 7% Bed Tax Fee will be implemented on short term rentals.

This fee will be paid by visitors staying at locations like hotels, motels, and Airbnb properties.

Jordin Harmer, the Manager of the Convention and Visitors Bureau, said the amount of beds within the rental doesn’t matter, all short term rentals will face the same fee.

“I definitely believe it is a good thing,” Harmer said. “It will bring in money from the visitors to Muskingum County and in turn we can use that to promote all of the attractions to build a lot more awareness to the Community and again grow tourism in the area.”

Currently in Ohio there are 32 Counties who impose this short term rental fee, while 33 other Counties do not.

July 20th is the day the short term rental fee on motels, hotels, and Airbnb properties will be imposed here in Muskingum County.
