Muskingum County Community Foundation Honor Scholars and Donors
Wednesday the Muskingum County Community Foundation honored some bright scholars.
MCCF hosted a scholarship reception for scholarship recipients and donors. Debbon Kappes is the mother of Nick Tilton he died of cancer. A scholarship was founded in his name by an anonymous donor.
“A small gathering with some of our donors and some of our scholarship recipient. So that they know that we did not forget about them. They are appreciated. They can always come back to us for more scholarships and hopefully more money to help them finish up their schooling,” said MCCF’s Education Assistant, Katie McCarty.
“It makes me feel good that Nick’s memory can live on and help someone else get through college because education was very important,” said Debbon
“I felt honored that i had received it. And it’s helped towards books and tuition,” said Seth Mirgon.
McCarty said seeing how the scholarships truly change students lives is the best feeling.
“It definitely helped me, I Â wasn’t really aware how much it would cost to go to college. After finding out it was kind of a shock. Once I found out there was ways to obtain money to help me that was really beneficial,” said Tiana Young.
