Community Foundation Spring Grant Competition

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Non-profits in Muskingum County that are serving the community can soon apply for a grant to help fund their programs.
The Muskingum County Community Foundation’s annual Spring Grant Competition will soon be underway. Nonprofits can begin filling out the application on March 5th. The M.C.C.F. is looking for organizations that focus on some of their cornerstone efforts which include: economic vitality, arts and culture, education, and wellness and recreation.
“So the project or programs someone may be working on may not be a direct link, a word for word if you will, to one of the quality of life indicators, but if it’s helping to address something under one of those four cornerstones then it should align pretty closely to what we’re looking for,” said Brian Wagner CEO of the M.C.C.F.
As the applications are received the committee will review them. The ones the committee selects will then be submitted to the board for acceptance. Wagner says there is no limit to the number of groups the M.C.C.F. will choose to fund. The goal is to fund as many organizations that are making an impact on the county as possible.
“So if that’s funding through the committee’s eyes five organizations at a higher level higher dollar amount to make a deeper impact we’ll do that. But if it ends up being the fact that we fund 10, 15, 20 organizations maybe at a lesser dollar amount but we feel it’s going to make a deeper impact then that’s the direction the committee goes.”
Wagner says the money to fund the programs comes from the money raised at the Groundhog Day auction. The deadline to apply for the grant is March 26th at noon.
