Muskingum County Dog Licenses Now Available for 2025

ZANESVILLE, OH – Dog owners, it’s time to get your furry friends licensed! Muskingum County dog licenses for 2025 are on sale through January 31st.

All dogs older than three months must be registered in Ohio. A one-year license costs $16, with a three year and permanent options available for $48 and $160. You can purchase licenses at the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office, the K9 Adoption Center, or by going online.

“You can visit Muskingum County Auditors website, and you can make that purchase. There is an additional fee on the website of $2.25. Which the cost is for shipping and handling. Or you can do an envelope. You can fill out an application and once that is completed, you can mail it in to the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office. You would have to include a self-addressed stamped envelope, and then our office will send back that 2025 tag as well as your receipt for the dog tag,” Muskingum Co. Auditors Chief Deputy Tina Huebner said.

A license isn’t just a tag, it’s also a good way to keep your dog safe. If your pup would become missing while wearing a dog tag, the owner can easily and accurately be identified.

“If your dog is lost, then it would go to the rightful owner. It can be looked up and tracked to who the ownership of the dog is,” Huebner said.

Dog licenses must be purchased by January 31st, 2025, to avoid penalty. For more information, please call the Auditor’s Office at (740) 455-7109 and select option one.
