ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Fair Grounds has been under construction and going through preparations for the 171st Blue Ribbon Fair.

Board President Darrel Cubbison said they’re a head of schedule for preparations. The food vendors, games, rides, and many organizations are busy setting up and securing their positions.

“It just takes about 5,000 people to open up the fair when we open each day,” Cubbison said. “That takes in the pie bakers, all the food stands, and the exhibitors.”

The fair will officially kick off on Sunday August 13,2017 at 8:00 A.M. The Muskingum County Fair will also recognize Sunday as Veterans Appreciation Day and will allow all veterans to have free admissions.

“We’ve been doing it for a number of years and we just feel it’s very important that we honor the veterans of this country, because they’re the reasons we’re able to have the 171 Blue Ribbon Fair,” said Cubbison.

Cubbison said the Livestock Committee put together a new barn, the goat barn will have new pens, a new diary barn was built, and a few food stands have been updated. Check out a full schedule at muskingumcofair.com
