ZANESVILLE, OH – The Zanesville-Muskingum County Health Department unveiled a new Public Health Mobile Unit on Thursday.

This new mobile unit is funded by a federal grant and is a gamechanger in making public health services more accessible to residents, especially those with limited mobility.

“It’s beneficial to us. It gives us a lot of broader opportunities to reach out into the community and to do more than we already do. We’re very excited to partner more with our community and get out and about and just do more service,” Jacob Wilson from the Muskingum County Health Department said.

The primary mission of the mobile health hub is to provide health education directly to the public. Thursday, the vehicle was stationed outside the Muskingum County Library, where it played a vital role in distributing free COVID-19 test kits.

“The most exciting thing is really just the opportunities that this will unlock for the health department. It’s very exciting to have this kind of recourse and to just move forward with it,” Wilson said.

For those who missed the “Merry Testmas” distribution event, the health department has test kits available for pickup at their office at 205 North 7th Street in Downtown Zanesville.
