Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Barbie!

Barbie the Akita

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This week’s dog of the week is a Barbie looking for her dream house. Meet Barbie! She’s a 5-year-old Akita mix who keeps a clean kennel and loves a good grooming and bath time. According to K-9 Adoption Center volunteer Doug McQuaid, Barbie is as cuddly as she is fluffy.

“Loves affection and attention. Would just make someone a great dog in that way, maybe even for small children to be able to just have someone to sit beside and pet,” McQuaid said.

Barbie knows a few tricks like sit, shake, and lay down and is known to spin in circles when she’s excited. McQuaid says the adoption center is looking for volunteers who play an important role in the adoption process by getting to know dogs like Barbie.

“We’re always looking for volunteers. Volunteers play a very special part in the organization, finding out all the different things about them when they come in as strays,” McQuaid said. “We try to make sure that every adoption is a success and you’re actually a part of that by helping us out, finding all the different things about our pups when they come in. So if that’s something you would like to do, please stop by.”
