Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Kershaw!
ZANESVILLE, Ohio – A decade in dog years means a sharp wit and a loving heart for this weeks dog of the week. Meet Kershaw! This 10 year old coonhound mix is neutered, well potty trained, and is looking for a home where he’s the only dog in the house. He’s affectionate and behaves very well on the leash most of the time.
“But you got to remember his natural instinct is to have nose to the ground. So, he may take a dart one way or the other if he smells something that he’s interested in so you want to be very mindful for that,” said Doug McQuaid, a volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center. “He enjoys long walks and so that would be something that maybe that someone likes to go for walks… So, you know, he just needs somewhere to live out some of his retirement years to where he just has a lot of one on one attention. ”
McQuaid said that free community dog food is available for anyone who may need it for their friend at home and invites people to consider becoming a volunteer.
“So, to become a volunteer you just need to stop in, talk to a staff member, fill out a volunteer sheet and that’s the easiest way to do it. They’ll fill you in on a little bit of information and any questions that you may have, please, you know, feel free to ask and we’d love to help you,” McQuaid said.
If you are interested in adopting Kershaw or for more information you can reach out to the K-9 Adoption Center at (740)-453-0273.
