Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Magnolia!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This week’s dog of the week is a beautiful flower ready for her forever home. Meet Magnolia!
She’s a 2-year-old terrier mix who arrived at the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center with a tail injury but is all healed up and ready to move in. While she was healing, volunteers like Doug McQuaid had the chance to learn what kind of dog Magnolia is.
“We did find out she is dog selective, takes treats very well, loves affection, walks easily on a leash, loves to play in the play yard. She would be someone for an active family, like I say, maybe go for walks and so fourth if that’s something you’d like to go do,” McQuaid said. “I think she’d just be a great dog for anybody like that. Probably loves to ride in a care, you know, just the great things about a dog like this would be great for a family that would take on some responsibility to do things like this.”
With all of the rain and melted snow we’ve seen this week, McQuaid offered advice to dog owners who may need to take extra precautions to keep their four-legged friend happy and healthy.
“We want to make sure that our pets are not standing in water. Also, we need to check their bedding and their dog beds outside to make sure that they’re not wet. A lot of times, what happens is the wetness on their front part of their body or even their feet become irratated then become sores,” McQuaid said. “So we often always tell people the best bedding for all year round is straw. Straw is very easy to take out of the box and put new in. It’s something you might want to check every day while it is raining this week.”
