ZANESVILLE, OH – This week’s Dog of the Week is a true cuddle bug.

Meet Salem! She’s a one-year-old terrier mix who’s spayed, kid and dog friendly, and is searching for her perfect couch buddy.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center, says her favorite thing to do is get and give affection to everyone she meets.

“She loves affection, would love to just be sitting on someone’s lap, maybe at home, while you’re watching T.V.” McQuaid said. “I’m sure she does the same riding in the car, so she would just be a great dog for anybody.”

McQuaid says due to her age, Salem would do best in an active home where they could take her on lots of walks to burn off some energy.

He also says the Adoption Center is currently in need of leashes and collars for the pups in their care.

“We’re always looking for Martingale collars or leashes for the volunteers to be able to take the dogs for walks, that’s very important.” McQuaid said. “The Martingale’s actually have a little bit of a slip to them, when it comes around their neck, so if they happen to pull a little bit, it does pull a little tighter to let you be able to control the dog a little bit better.”

Also coming up on Saturday, the K-9 Adoption Center will be out from noon to 6 celebrating the Roseville Volunteer Fire Department’s 140th Anniversary.

They also still have dog food available at the Center if you are in need.

If you’d like to adopt Salem, pick up some food, or for more information you can reach out to the K-9 Adoption Center at (740)-453-0273.
