ZANESVILLE, OH -This week’s Dog of the Week is a high energy bundle of joy!

Meet Snickers! She’s a 4-year-old terrier mix who does well with any and all dogs, keeps a clean kennel, and is ready for her forever family.

Doug McQuaid, a Volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center says, Snickers would do well in just about any home but warns she may knock down younger kids when she gets excited.

“She doesn’t tear up anything in her kennel and that’s very exceptional.” McQuaid said. “Would do well with older kids, like I said, with her being a little rambunctious, but she seems to do wonderful with going for walks, she loves treats, she’s just looking for some companionship mainly.”

McQuaid also wants pet owners to keep their furry friends’ health in check during this cold weather.

He says the main thing to keep in mind is that not all road salt is pet friendly and it can lead to burns or sores on your pups paws.

“When you bring them back in, it’s not something you’re trying to brush off, you’re basically trying to wash off of the paw.” McQuaid said. “Because the salt itself has a chemical base and it does create a reaction to the paws and sometimes sores and it takes a long time to heal.”
