Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Topanga!

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – This week’s dog of the week has been a long-time resident at the K-9 Adoption Center but is ready to move on to her forever home.
Meet Topanga! This year-and-a-half-old terrier mix has had the longest residency at the adoption center, does well with people of all ages, but would do best as the only dog in the house.
“She loves to go for walks, likes playing in our play yard. Well, actually, you could throw a ball, she’ll come back and bring it back to you, loves treats. She did very well Christmas event, seemed to get along with all the kids and the other dogs. Seemed like everybody that came up to her really interacted well with her and she did very well with them,” said Doug McQuaid, a volunteer for the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center.
McQuaid wanted to remind the community that they have an upcoming deadline for dog licenses on Jan. 31. You can renew or get a new dog license through the Muskingum County Auditor’s Office or at the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center. The adoption center has resources to help keep your furry friend fed through the ferociously frigid weather and there are opportunities to be had for any of the dog lovers in the community to lend a helping hand.
“We have plenty of community food to give away. So please, if that’s something that you need, do not hesitate to stop or give us a call. We’d love to be able to help you out with that. And, we’re always, always looking for active volunteers to be able to walk dogs and find out the many different great things about the pets that we have at our facility,” McQuaid said.
If you’d like to learn more about getting your dog tags or how to adopt a dog like Griffin, you can call the Muskingum County Sheriff’s K-9 Adoption Center at (740) 453-0273.
