Muskingum County K-9 Adoption Center Dog of the Week; Meet Topanga, Again!

ZANESVILLE, OH – This Week’s Dog of the Week is hoping the 3rd time is the charm.

Topanga first came to the K-9 Adoption Center back in January of 2025 and we covered her as the Dog of the Week in April of 2025, then again in January of 2026, and here she is once again.

She’s now a 2-year-old terrier mix who’s spayed, loves getting and then giving affection, and is described by the Staff at the K-9 Adoption Center as one of the sweetest girls around.

Doug McQuaid, a volunteer at the K-9 Adoption Center, says Topanga has now spent a total of 500 days at the Center, hoping for her forever family to come by.

“We found out a lot of great things about her.” McQuaid said. “Walks well on a leash, with a harness. She’s a little strong at first so maybe it would take an older kid or an adult to get her started and when she walks she seems to calm way down.”

McQuaid says Topanga is a fan of everyone except cats and her favorite thing to do is head out to the play yard to burn off some extra energy.

He says that her favorite toy is anything with a squeaker and she’s learned how to play fetch from her time at the Adoption Center.

“One of the volunteers actually took her for a ride in the car and they went and got a cheeseburger and she was quite the hit with that.” McQuaid said. “So just things of that nature we’ve found out that she does well with dogs but we always want to do a meet and greet and seems to be good with all people too, it’s not like she ever meets a stranger. Like i said, she just has so many good things for her, she’s been here for such a long time, she’s looking for her forever home.”
