Muskingum County Library Levy Passes
Another levy that easily passed was for the Muskingum County Library System.
It won by nearly 8,000 votes. Assistant Director Blair Tom said it’s remarkable to have the levy pass with that big of a margin.
"We wanted to have the ability to win by at least one vote, but we were optimistic that we should be able to continue with the renewal, but I have not talked with anyone that was thinking about that kind of margin," said Tom.
The renewal will allow the library to move forward with new technologies. Tom said on the first day after the levy passing officials have already began planning many ways to evolve into having 21st century libraries.
"That falls under that technology focus that will be an initial area that people really notice some new innovations, programs, resources and we want to grow the ability to have teacher coaches available for people who have new devices who want to learn skills," said Tom.
Tom also said the library is looking to roll out a new system by the first quarter of next year to allow the use of credit cards at all the county libraries.
