ZANESVILLE, Ohio – Last May Muskingum County Library System announced their extended hours between September 2017 through May 2018.

Sunday September 10, 2017 John McIntire Library will be open between 1:00 P.M. and 5:00 P.M. Director of Libraries Jennifer Spillman said they are also having Fine Forgiveness day to welcome everyone in on their first Sunday open.

This Sunday only at the John McIntire location from 1:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M,” said Spillman. “If you have a fine and its keeping you away from the library a little bit, because you’re kind of embarrassed or it’s reaching its maximum amount. Come in we’ll take one fine off your account and also on Thursday at the branches this coming week. September 14, 2017 we’ll have fine forgiveness day at the branches as well.”

The Muskingum County Library System will take away every persons highest fine on their account. John McIntire Library is holding baby, toddlers, and preschool story times in the month of September.

“We kind of put them all in a big group together,” Spillman said. “Parents are in the back, but they’re still in the room. So we read a book, we sing, dance, and the kids do a craft. So the kids have a really great time.”

This September the library is bringing back for the second year in a row the bed time story time.

“It’s for any age we invite children to come in, wear their pajamas, bring their blanket, and stuffed animal.” said Spillman.

The Muskingum County Library System will also be doing a book discussion based off the ‘Imagine: A Clean Community’ guest speaker David Sheff’s book.

“Beautiful Boy is the book [Author David Sheff] is discussing,” Spillman said. “We’re going to have a book discussion about that on September 28, 2017 at 3:30 P.M., but at the [Ohio University Zanesville] campus library. So it’s kind of collaboration between our library and the O.U.Z. library.”
