Muskingum County Library System New and Improved Mobile App

Mcls New Mobile App

MUSKINGUM COUNTY, Ohio- The Muskingum County Library System (MCLS) has launched a new and improved mobile app.

Joe Dusenbery, IT Director at John McIntire Library, said that the new app will provide better access into the library’s physical collection.

“It’s packed with features. You can search our catalog, you can place holds, you can even renew your items right from your phone, you can even view our events on our online events calendar, look up our branches and get directions, and find current hours,” Dusenbery stated. “You can even store your library card in the app so when you come into the building it’s already available for you. You don’t have to try to fumble through it or lose your card.”

The library will still have the Hoopla and the Libby apps available to members.

Dusenberry said the library community really needed an updated app for members as technology and access to phones have grown.

“More and more people have mobile devices. Actually, just about everybody has a smartphone. So we thought it was important to try and offer that to the community. We’ve had one for many years, but it doesn’t have as awesome of features as our new app,” Dusenbery said. “The old one was actually getting discontinued, so that kind of prompted the change. So we were able to find a new vendor and get the whole new app redesigned and we’re really excited about the new features that we have.”

The mobile app is free and available for all Android and iPhone users by searching MCLS through the app store.

Please call any library location if there’s any trouble with any issue like accessing the app or finding a pin number.
