ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The Muskingum County Records Commission met Thursday, welcoming a new addition on serving on the board.

Muskingum County Commissioner Jim Porter is the newest member serving on the records board.

“Our first meeting of 2016 was really about our new board member commissioner Jim Porter. And the upcoming projects we have. We needed to talk about service maintenance contracts. And our plans for 2016,” said Records Coordinator Corrie Marple.

Marple said a major goal for this board is to start the process of digitizing record documents in 2016.

“We’re going to continue moving forward with scanning the paper documents. We’ll scan them into a digital form. We still have to mirco film those documents per the Ohio State regulations. It will take quite a long time. There are many records here. And each file has to be deconstructed so it can run through a scanner. So that’s an extra step which involves extra time,” said Marple.

The next meeting is slated for February 18th, 2016.
