Muskingum County Sheriffs Catch Gas Station Armed Robber

Muskingum County Sheriff Matt Lutz said charges have been filed against a local man in connection with a string of gas station armed robberies.

Lutz said Jeffrey Saltz Jr confessed to robbing two Duke and Duchess gas stations.

“Charges were filed on Jeffrey D Saltz Jr. At this time he is incarcerated at our jail. Charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of theft misdemeanor, attempted breaking and entering and possession of criminal tools. As we move forward we did want to get it out to the public that person was charged and into custody,” said Lutz.

Lutz said detectives received a tip that lead to the arrest of the suspect.

“On December 26 there was a suspicious activity called in. Right down here at city tire located on East Pike right next to our building. During that time a suspect was taken into custody. He was trying to break into one of the storage buildings at City Tire. During the investigation subsequent interviewing of that person our detectives were able to gain a confession,” said Lutz.

Saltz remains in the Muskingum County jail.
