Muskingum Co. Water Department Meets with Commissioners

ZANESVILLE, OH – The Muskingum County Water Department met with the county commissioners on March 21st to address a pressing issue.

The core issue involved stab-in fittings that have unexpectedly failed, leading to operational disruptions and need for repair. After Muskingum Site Services presented a bill for the repairs, the Water Department has been looking for funding solutions to cover the costs and avoid further disruptions to water services.

“When you get to the end of the service line, we have a copper setter which holds a meter. It’s a stab-in fitting that goes on the end of that copper setter where the service line goes in and connects to the copper setter. When we put pressure on these stab-in fittings, they just came apart. That happened on quite a few. We were looking to talk to the suppliers and see what kind of things we can get worked out,” Assistant Project Director Zack Forker said.

Both the Water Department and the commissioners are committed to finding a financial pathway forward and to proceed with future plans and projects without additional obstacles.

“We’re hoping that Muskingum Site Services and Muskingum County can come to a substantial completion on the project and that way we can move forward in the future with more projects that we are hoping that Muskingum Site Services would bid on,” Forker said.
