Muskingum County’s Help Wanted: The Ridge Corporation

FRAZYSBURG, Ohio – The Muskingum County Ohio Means Jobs Office and WHIZ have partnered up for a new monthly segment called Muskingum County’s Help Wanted. The first of this series is with the Ridge Corporation.

Just outside of Frazysburg are two facilities of the Ridge Corporation. The Pataskala-based corporation specializes in manufacturing thermoplastic composite laminants

“Basically, we’re building panels. We’re building walls, floors, doors, ceilings for all kinds of different vehicles,” said Chris Poe, a recruiter for Ridge Corportation.

These panels are often ordered by manufacturers of semi-truck trailers, campers, boats, and electric vehicles for their lightweight and durability.

“We’re getting a lot of traction in the marketplace for this material because it performs a whole lot better and it’s a lot better for the environment as opposed to wood, aluminum, steel.”

Poe has worked for the business for more than five years and shares what stands out most about his time with the company.

“I think what really stands out is that we have a lot of success stories of teammates who are homegrown. What I mean by that is that they are being promoted from within and for some of these entry-level roles,” Poe said. “They may come in as a general laborer or a machine operator but then, you know, years down the line they may find themselves in a senior equivalent for that role or they may even find themselves off the production floor in areas like safety, HR, IT, engineering and so forth. So there’s a lot of various career pathways for our teammates.”

A perfect example of that growth within the company is Ryan Schoop.

“When I started here, 5 years ago, I started in the shipping department and I worked my way up the entire ladder. From the shipping clerk all the way up to the plant manager now,” Schoop said.

The Frazeysburg locations for the Ridge Corporation have positions open for a multi-craft machine technician, machine operators, environmental health and safety manager and a general laborer.

The lowest wage, according to Roe, is $17.25 an hour with the chance for quarterly wage increases. Benefits include health, dental, and vision insurance, 9 paid holidays, company 401k matching, and 40 hours of vacation upon the date of hire.

“It’s just a great place to work,” Schoop said. “I’ve been here for five years. I like working with everybody I got in here, you know we’re kind of like a big family in here. Everybody bumps heads now and then but you know, ultimately, we all come together and we achieve what we need to.”
