Muskingum Family YMCA offers a camp for kids to learn and play

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- The YMCA is allowing kids to have fun outside of the house during the summer and learn at the same time.

The Muskingum Family YMCA Summer Day Camp is for kids in grades Kindergarten through the eighth grade. Kids can splash and swim during the hot summer days along with other activities which include crafts and sports. Counselor Kim Kelly said the kids can learn while having fun.

“The kids have a great opportunity to come out here and get out of the house,” said Kelly. “They do a lot of reading and trail walks. There’s a lot of learning going on even though we’re having fun.”

Kelly said she works at the summer camp because she loves the kids and has a great time. She also enjoys giving the kids a chance to have fun.

“Everyday we swim here from one to three,” said Kelly. “It’s a really good opportunity for the kids to get out of the house for a while. We have a lot of activities, including swimming. We do lots of stuff that we communicate with schools about.”
