Muskingum Libraries open Meeting Rooms

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum County Library System is now opening up some of their meeting rooms to the community for gatherings and events.

The Dresden Branch, New Concord Branch, Duncan Falls Philo Branch, and John McIntire Library are all opening their meeting rooms and auditorium for reservations.

The Dresden Branch was newly remodeled and has one meeting room in the top floor of the building that can fit about 35 individuals. The New Concord Branch and Duncan Falls Philo Branch both have meeting rooms that can fit around 10 to 15 people. While the main branch, John McIntire Library has two larger meeting rooms in the basement that can fit 100 plus individuals and the auditorium can hold about 200.

“What we’ve done now is we’ve allowed non-profits to use all these spaces for free it’s completely something different than what we’ve done before,” Director of Libraries Jennifer Spillman said. “For profits can use these spaces for $30.00 an hour for the meeting rooms and $75.00 an hour for the auditorium.”

The Muskingum Library System is also opening the meeting rooms for special events for families and friends at the same price.

“We’re also opening up to public and social events, so if you have a child you’re looking for the best place to have a birthday party that’s a reasonable price, you can think of the library,” Spillman said. “If you’re having a small family reunion, if you want a wedding shower, baby shower, any of those types of social events can now happen at the library.”

To register a meeting room go to muskingumlibrary.org click on the ‘Public Spaces / Meeting Room’ tab or call (740) 453-0391 and ask for Sue Danhauer at John McIntire Library. People will soon be able to use their credit cards to pay for the reservations as well.

All non-profits who wish to reserve meeting rooms need to provide the library system with a 501c3 document during the reservation process.
