Muskingum Recreation Center Holds Dodgeball Tournament

Sometimes you may have to do something really silly in order to make a serious impact.

The Muskingum Recreation Center held it’s first Annual Dodgeball Fundraiser for United Way Thursday. The Membership Manager for the Rec. Center, Katie McNeil said this is a fun event where members of the community come out and play dodge ball while supporting a local organization.

"This is the first time and we have had an overwhelming support from everyone in the community, local businesses, partners with United Way as well as supporters of the Muskingum Rec. Center and our community have all joined in. We actually have 18 teams participating tonight which is so exciting," said Katie McNeil.

The proceeds from this event will go to the United Way campaign and will then be filtered out through the investment process starting in July. Becky Clawson said the organizations that are in the application process right now will be funded by the dollars raised in this event.

"We just value the community support in so many events that we’ve done this year but, to see this support for our new event is really exciting and we hope to see it becoming an annual event," said Clawson.

The winning team of tonight’s Dodgeball tournament was the Maysville Baseball team and they received medals from United Way.
