Muskingum Recreation Center to Host Indoor Triathlon, Dodgeball Tournament
The Muskingum Recreation Center is hosting two events in February.
The Rec Center is hosting it’s 2nd annual Indoor Triathlon.
Participants swim in the lap pool for 10 minutes, bike in the cycling room for 30 minutes, and run or walk for 20 minutes and Membership Manager Katie McNeil said it’s a great way for people of all fitness levels to participate in a triathlon.
"This is meant for just anybody of all levels and any experience level is welcome and anyone interested in just trying to do some sort of different fitness challenge," said McNeil. "With the three components of the swim bike run, there’s something for everyone. It definitely challenges all individuals across the board."
The man and woman with the best overall distance will take first place. The race will start at 9 a.m. in the morning on Sunday Feb. 28. The cost to participate is just $35 for members and $45 for non members. To be guaranteed a T-shirt, you should register by the 18th.
The Rec Center is also hosting a dodgeball tournament to support the United Way.
16 teams are already signed up for the charity game and there’s just one more day to get involved. Member and non-member teams of 6 to 8 can participate for just a $50 donation.
"We’re encouraging anyone in the community that wants to just come out and dodge a ball for a good cause to come and participate," said McNeil.
Proceeds benefit the Muskingum, Perry, Morgan County United Way which helps the MRC fund specialized programs like ‘healthy outcomes’ for the developmentally disabled and a pulmonary rehab exercise maintenance for phase three COPD patients.
"Both those ongoing programs actually really help individuals that wouldn’t otherwise be able to come in and use our facility for their fitness needs," said McNeil.
The dodgeball tournament will start Thursday February 18 at 5:30 p.m. To register you simply fill out the form on muskingumrecreationcenter.org.
