Muskingum Valley Park District has some exciting projects coming up

ZANESVILLE, Ohio – The Muskingum Valley Park District updated the County Commissioners on some of their upcoming projects on Tuesday.
The park district is currently working on a few projects in the area they hope will better serve the community. Executive Director, Russell Edgington, said they just wrapped up a completed phase one of the Joe’s Run Trail that travels from Blue Avenue to Adams Circle. He said phase two will have a bridge that goes over Joe’s Run creek connecting to Ohio University Zanesville campus.
“Our goal really is to provide close to home park and recreation facilities, so all of these parks are located right in the neighborhoods in Zanesville,” explained Edgington.
Edgington said they are working on completing the new entrance and parking area at Gale Gardens, which he believes is one of the best kept secrets in Zanesville. There will be a parking lot on Adair Avenue. He said this will be done by the end of fall. Edgington said he wants the community to know what the Muskingum Valley Park District does around the community.
“That’s probably one of our primary goals right now – to get the word out,” said Edgington. “You know, we’re not Zanes Landing, we have our own facility. We want people to know what our facilities are – they’re all good, quality facilities, safe and family fun.”
Edgington said they are having a Halloween Trail of Treats on the Collegial Woods Trail at OUZ on October 13th from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, you can visit their Facebook page.
