Chief Medical Officer Dr. Bijan Goodarzi said this service is offered in Muskingum county.
“So all the patients have to do is call them up to acquire about the free cancer screening. We have decreased the cancer rate by 50% in 30 years. And it’s all due to the screening process. So only that is available to woman you can make a difference in their health. And because of that at MVHC I’m very proud to tell you that we’re offering free screenings for the month of January, February, and into March, ” said Goodarzi.
Dr. Goodarzi said the cervical cancer screening is virtually painless and not a long process.
“What has changed for us is over the last 10 years is the recommendation for screening. We now recommend no screening of pap until the age of 21. Between the ages of 21 and 30 every 3 years. If there is no HPV typing with that every 5 years,” said Goodarzi.
Dr Goodarzi said these screenings are just guidelines. He stressed the importance of reviewing your results with your primary care provider.
