MVHC Offering Health Insurance Counseling
Nearly 40 million Americans do not have health insurance.
Open enrollment is currently underway for those looking to purchase health-care coverage through the Affordable Care Act. In 2014, eight million Americans received health insurance under the Affordable Care Act. Signing up for coverage can be time-consuming and confusing, but Certified Application Counselors at Muskingum Valley Health Centers can help ease the process.
“They have special certification and training in understanding health insurance via the marketplace, and sitting down individually with a patient of ours, or any community resident, and taking them to the marketplace, explaining what options are available, which provide the most comprehensive coverage,” said Chief Quality Officer, Jeanie Blake.
The Health Insurance Marketplace is a service for people who do not have coverage through an employer, Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, or another source. Those who are already insured, can opt to retain or change their current insurance or care provider. Over the last few years, MVHC’s counselors have assisted nearly 3,000 residents in the region.
“We are willing to offer the services of our counselors to anyone who would happen to call, so we’ll sit down individually, we’ll make individual appointments, we have three counselors, we can travel to any of our sites in the three counties,” Blake said.
To schedule an appointment with a counselor, contact MVHC, at (740)-891-9000. Open enrollment ends December 15.
