MVHC: Players of the Game – Week Two
ZANESVILLE, OH – Week two of the high school football season is officially in the books, and it was highlighted by some stand out performances from players from local area teams. The following individuals are recognized as our week two “MVHC: Players of the Game” from games broadcasted on our radio stations.
A valiant comeback fell just short for Tri-Valley against Granville on Friday night, in a game heard on Z92 radio. Despite the 24-21 defeat, defensive back AJ Pusz still made an impact during his freshman season with a “pick six” to begin the Dawgs’ comeback effort.
It was quite a different story with the game from Highway 103 radio, as New Lexington planted its metaphorical flag in the turf, staking its claim as the top team in all of the Muskingum Valley League for either division. The Panthers came out strong against the upstart Electrics from Philo, coming away with a 36-14 victory. It wouldn’t be a New Lexington rout without the stellar play from senior quarterback Lane Ratliff, who rushed for three touchdowns and threw for one more in the week two win.
Despite Zanesville having the same success as its week one triumph, AM 1240’s player of the game, Connor Johnson, still had a standout performance, continuing his play from a year ago. The sophomore receiver finished with six catches for 78 yards and a touchdown in the week two defeat.
