MVL teams go 3-0 in week 12

ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Four area teams found their way to week 12 of the high school football season, including three Muskingum Valley League teams.
In Division-III, the Tri-Valley Scotties made their way to the greater Columbus area again to take on Bellefontaine at Westerville Central. A wild final three minutes saw the Scotties kick a 40-yard field goal with five seconds to play to send the game to overtime. The Scotties, after forcing a turnover on the Chieftains first possession, won the game by a final of 36-30 on an 8-yard touchdown run by Caleb Craig. The Scotties face two-time defending state champion Bishop Hartley in the Regional Finals next week.
In Division-IV, the John Glenn Little Muskies took on the undefeated Licking Valley Panthers. The game was tied 13-13 after both teams scored on each of their first two possessions– and then it was a tale of two halves. John Glenn scored 20 unanswered points to take a 33-13 lead into the halftime break. But the Panthers roared back in the second half, holding John Glenn scoreless but failed to convert a 4th-and-goal with under two minutes to play in the game. The Little Muskies held on by a final of 33-27.
The Little Muskies would move on to face the winner of the match-up between the Philo Electrics and the also previously unbeaten Indian Valley Braves. The Electrics took a 14-0 lead in the second quarter, before the Braves cut the lead to one score before halftime, making it 14-6. Isaac Gill lead a 20-0 second-half shut by the Electrics though, who cruised to a 34-6 victory. The Electrics will face fellow MVL foe John Glenn in the Regional Championship. Philo defeated John Glenn 28-17 in week 4 of the regular season in Duncan Falls.
Official times and locations for next week’s games will be posted on whiznews.com when made available by the OHSAA later in the weekend.
