NAACP will blend holiday fun with community outreach at First Friday Artwalk

NAACP SANTA AND COCOA

ZANESVILLE, OH- The holiday season is arriving early in downtown Zanesville as one local organization blends festive fun with community outreach. A special event is set to bring the community together during this month’s Artwalk, all while supporting the work of a long-standing civil rights group.

The Santa and Cocoa Outreach Event will be held , from 5 to 8 p.m. at Nicole’s on Main Boutique at 532 Main Street. Families can stop in for free cocoa and a visit with Santa.

The Muskingum County NAACP was reactivated just six months ago and now has 90 members. They hope the event will help introduce more people to their mission during one of the busiest nights downtown.

“I think it’s a great opportunity to bring Santa Claus and Hot Chocolate to young people downtown during the  Artwalk while introducing people to a historical organization that’s been in Zanesville for over 100 years,” said Muskingum County NAACP President, Kyle Johnson.

The group focuses on civil rights, education, and community engagement, and leaders say ’s event is part of that ongoing outreach. They’ll also be sharing information about membership as they work toward reaching 100 members before the end of the year.

“I’m hoping that we get memberships, and we will have for each member, each person that does sign up for a membership they will be entered in a drawing for some NAACP swag…as well as a raffle drawing for this holiday gift basket that’s worth over $250 dollars in value,” said Muskingum County NAACP Secretary, Nancy Edwards.

The event is free and open to the public, and no registration is needed for families who want to stop in, enjoy some cocoa, and meet Santa during the Artwalk. For more information you can visit the Muskingum County NAACP on Facebook.
