Names Released In Northpointe Fatal Accident

A Coshocton mother and her son were killed in a two-vehicle accident on Northpointe Drive and Powelson Road Wednesday.  

It occurred just after 2:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and closed down the roadway for several hours.

According to Lt. Matt Boyd with the Highway Patrol, a blue Chevy Cavalier went left of center hitting a dump truck semi head on.  

Lt. Boyd said the car was driven by 64-year-old Phillip Hackenbracht of Coshocton. A front seat passenger in the car, 21-year-old Nadine Corder of Coshocton, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 4-year-old son, Aries Laflin, was in the back seat. He was transported to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville where he later died of his injuries. Mr. Hackenbracht was flown by a MEDFlight helicopter to Grant Hospital in Columbus where he remains in critical condition. The driver of the semi, 63-year-old James Stevens of Coshocton, was transported to Genesis Hospital where he was treated and later released.

Lt. Boyd said restraints were used by all those involved in the crash.  No alcohol or drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash which remains under investigation.

The dump truck was carrying coal and flipped on its side, spilling the coal.  Muskingum County EMA was called in to assist with the cleanup.

Falls Township Fire and EMS, Dillon Falls EMS, the Highway Patrol, the Muskingum County Sheriff’s Office, and the Muskingum County Coroner all responded to the scene.
