Nancy J. “Jolene” Russell, 56 of Zanesville died 6:11 PM Friday, September 16, 2011 at Genesis-Good Samaritan Campus Zanesville following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born Saturday, September 25, 1954 in Zanesville the daughter of the late Harold K. and Zita R. (Kincade) Taylor.
Jolene was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, a graduate of Ohio Dominican University with a bachelors degree and retired in 2006 after 30 years of service from the Muskingum County Department of Job & Family Services. She was a volunteer at Genesis Hospital where she was a member of the Charity Circle, a member of the Eagles #302 Auxiliary, an avid card player especially enjoyed playing poker and visiting the casinos.
Jolene is survived by her husband Thomas W. Russell whom she married on Saturday, June 14, 1980, her son Taylor “Tater Tot” Russell, a sister Carol Ann Ackers, her mother-in-law Betty Russell all of Zanesville, numerous nieces, nephews and her pet dog “Buddy”. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her father -in-law Albert Russell.
Visitation will be held Monday Sept. 19th from 5 to 8pm at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church 144 North Fifth Street Zanesville OH with Dominican Fathers as celebrant. Burial will conclude in the St. Paul Cemetery Sonora.
