Nancy Carroll (Mardis) Luallen, 85 of Zanesville, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on May 27, 2024.
She was born on October 31, 1938, daughter of the late Frank William and Bertha Amy (Hardsaw) Mardis.
She lived in many places throughout her life Starting in Campbellsville Kentucky where she was born. She lived in and around New Albany Indiana for many years. She also lived in North Wilkesboro NC, Highland IN, Gary IN, Zanesville and Chandlersville, OH before settling in Adamsville, OH. She spent her last years at the Cedar Hill Care Facility in Zanesville.
She worked from the time she was in high school until she retired. Working at a department store and Indiana Bell Telephone Company in New Albany, IN and sewing at a textile manufacturer in Wilkesboro NC. In Zanesville she worked at Dutro Ford, City Tire, and finally at Six County Counseling Center where she retired.
After retirement she stayed busy helping with farm work, gardening, canning and yard work. When the weather was bad or in the winter she loved to sew, making clothes and seasonal craft items, crocheting, quilting, working on puzzles and playing her piano. She also enjoyed baking around the holidays.
She was a great wife and an amazing Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother. She will be sadly missed and always remembered.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Steven Michael and Lori Lynne (Hanks) Luallen; sister, Joan Elizabeth (Mardis) Amy; sister-in-law, Myrna Lee (Moritz) Mardis; grandchildren, Michael Andrew and Jennifer Nicole (Gheen) Luallen, Chelsey Lynne Luallen, Timothy Joseph and Emily Marie (Allen) Luallen, Tyler Steven Luallen, Katie Elayne Luallen, Trevor Scott Luallen; great-grandchildren, Meridith Paige Luallen, Avaline Elaine Luallen, Garrett Scott Luallen, Wyatt James Luallen, Averie Leona Danner, Channing Rayne Brown, Anistyn Eileen Brown, and Christopher Timothy English; many nieces, nephews, and other family members.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Steven Arnold Luallen; son, Timothy Scott Luallen; brother, Leland Thomas Mardis; great-granddaughter, Sadie Layne Luallen; brother-in-law, Lester Ray Amy.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your favorite cause/charity in honor of Nancy.
Per Nancy’s wishes, no calling hours or services will be held at this time. A dignified cremation will be held through DeLong-Baker & Lanning Funeral Home. Nancy will be laid to rest at New Hope Cemetery at a later date.
