National 211 Day

ZANESVILLE, Ohio– A local assistance program is celebrating their national awareness day.

On Sunday, Feb. 11, or “2/11,” the United Way of Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties will be recognizing National 211 Day by raising awareness for the program to those in the community.

“211 is something that often times we think is for someone else but really, it’s for everyone in our community,” said Becky Clawson, United Way community impact director. “I’m sure that you’ve had a moment when you’ve wanted to volunteer for an organization, you can look that up immediately, you don’t have to wait till you get home or sit down at a computer, you can call them and get connected.”

Clawson said that many know the program offers assistance, but don’t realize it also offers a database for the community to find a number of different resources at no charge.

“So there are lots of ways to access this information, I just want to make sure that our communities know that this a service that United Way provides so that we can get you connected to those things that you need like food assistance, utility assistance, volunteer opportunities and the list goes on and on,” said Clawson.

To access the 211 database, you can dial 2-1-1, text your zip code to 898-211 or visit www.unitedwayofmpm.org.
