“So it’s an opportunity for the students and their advisers to get into a manufacturing facility, hear about what manufacturing is, the job opportunities that exist and not only that industry but in our community,” Matz said.

The students get to check out places like Mock Woodworking and Saunders Machine Works. Matz said the workforce is becoming more diverse.

“Manufacturing is still alive and well in the United States and in our area. So this is a great opportunity for us to expose the young folks to manufacturing. It also gets them in front of management and team leaders in the businesses.”

The students will have the chance to ask questions and learn what opportunities are available to them with a college degree or without. The goal is to help prepare youth to work in the community whether it is an entry level position or highly skilled position.
