National Road Yard Sale Benefits All
The National Road Yard Sale, stretching from Baltimore to St. Louis has brought in bargain hunters from all walks of life to Muskingum County.
The yard sale was in full swing along State Route 40. The owner of Susie’s Favorites, Susie Dodsen, has been participating in the event for 5 years. Dodsen offers space to vendors to set-up and said, the activity brings in new customers from miles around. She said, both her and the vendors benefit.
"Well, we offer just free space, because we feel like the more vendors we have, the more people that will stop," said Dodsen. "And today we got our yard pretty full."
But this year, it’s not only Susie Dodsen and the vendors who will prosper. The Vice President and Chairman of the Ways & Means Committee, Sherry Wilkins said, each year they offer a scholarship to a Zane State student and thought the National Yard Sale would be the perfect place to raise money. Wilkins said, everyone benefits.
"And it’s a win for Susie because hopefully we’ll bring business, and she’s bringing business that will create business for us," said Wilkins. "And we’re bringing business that will create business for her."
The Ways & Means Committee aimed to raise about $100 today. The National Road Yard Sale began June 1st and will continue through tomorrow.
