The Nelson T. Gant Foundation continues Black History Celebration

ZANESVILLE, Ohio- In honor of Black History Month, one foundation is striving to educate those in the community about African American culture and history.
Sunday, The Nelson T. Gant Foundation showed “Marshall,” a film intended to honor the legendary life of Thurgood Marshall.
“The nelson T. Gant Foundation is showing the movie “Marshall,” which recently came out. I know that a lot of people have not yet seen it, so we wanted to give others an opportunity to see the movie Marshall. It’s about Thurgood Marshall and some of the cases he had to deal with at that time,” said Dr. Anita Jackson, Nelson T. Gant Foundation.
Jackson says following the event, they’re hoping to hold a discussion that will serve as a gateway to learning more about the challenges Thurgood Marshall faced while fighting for change.
“We hope we will have some people that will stay for the discussion. Also, we hope that as they discuss the issues that they will help them to see what it was like during that time and to see the kind of challenges that Thurgood Marshall had to experience in helping African Americans who had to go to court,” said Dr. Jackson.
A three dollar and fifty cent donation was required upon entry for this event, and light refreshments were served.
