New classes begin at the Rec Center

Whether it be competing for first or taking a class, the Muskingum Rec Center is offering many ways to stay fit this fall.

The Rec Center is hosting a one mile swim race on November 22. It is having the race to raise money to purchase ADA approved steps for the lap pool. Susan Bowen, the Aquatic and Sport Manager at the Rec Center said the stairs will allow people to easily get into the pool.

"We’re just trying to raise the funds because they are quite expensive to purchase," said Bowen. "So this race will help us raise the funds so we’re able to provide that for our population."

Both members and non-members can participate in the race and you can do it as a four person relay as well. It costs $35 for members and $45 for non-members. If you’re not interested in racing, the Rec Center offers many classes to help you get fit. The new sessions started today, but Becky Weir said you can still sign up at any time.

"We would like it if you could make the whole eight week session, but if you know you’ve got some things going on right now you just come in and jump in on the next week if you want to or wherever it fits into your schedule," said Weir.

To sign up for classes or register for the race you can visit the rec center, it’s website, www.muskrec.org or call at (740) 454-4767.
