New Concord Hosts 60th Annual Fireman’s Festival

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – It was a weekend full of fun in New Concord this weekend at their Annual Fireman’s Festival.
The festival started Friday with a kids fun run and concluded the evening with fireworks. On Saturday, there was a 5 and a 10K, as well as a parade, dinner, tractor pull and more. New Concord Association President, Jason Moyer said this is the 60th year they have held this festival, and it is a fun way to raise money for the station needs.
“We are trying to raise money for updating some equipment, add some equipment to better serve our community and pay for some training for our members and a lot of other organizations are out here trying to raise money for separate organizations as well,” said Moyer.
A few local high school bands and cheer teams were there as well fundraising. Moyer said he has been doing the festival for 10 years now and said it has grown each year.
“Having the community support out here is great. This community really helps us out a lot, helps support us. The thing is, we raise these funds here and we are also able to give back to the community and ourselves being trained to better prepare ourselves for emergencies and any equipment that we are able to purchase and carry on our apparatus for those emergencies,” said Moyer.
Moyer wants to thank everyone that participated in the festival, and thank everyone that came out to enjoy the festival.
