New Concord Prepares for 4th Annual Community Day

NEW CONCORD, OH – The Village of New Concord is getting ready to host their 4th Annual Community Day!

New Concord Community Day is set for Saturday, September 5th with a full line up of events for the whole family.

Kristin Centa, the President of the Friends of New Concord, says the events begin with the 1-mile Fun Run, which will step off at New Concord Elementary School at 9AM.

“At 10AM, our Vendors’ Village opens up, we have 40 artisans and vendors that will be selling their goods and it’ll be behind Genesis.” Centa said. “It’s a big event, a lot of people come, and shortly after that our students from Muskingum University, they do a shop walk. They visit 12 different businesses and they check out that we have some really cute shops in our town, so they get their cards punched and get entered in a raffle to win some prizes.”

The Kids’ Fun space, on the corner of Layton Dr. and Maple Ave., will open up at 10AM as well with crafts, a sandbox, touch a truck, and a petting farm.

There will also be some food trucks opening and running from 11AM until 9PM, located on Main St. and behind the Genesis Pharmacy.

Centa says it means a lot to her to see this event continue to grow and become a tradition for families as well as the Muskingum students.

“It is so wonderful to see it grow.” Centa said. “Thank goodness for our sponsors, who pay for everything, so everything is free, the rock climbing wall, the bungees, all that is free thanks to our sponsors. It’s fun to watch it grow, we’re getting bigger and better every year.”

Community Day wraps up at the New Concord War Memorial Park with two bands, Late Light and Spelchek.
