New Exercise Specialist at MRC
The Muskingum Recreation Center’s new Exercise Specialist is ready to help you with all of your health and fitness needs.
This week, the rec center welcomed Olivia Danison to its staff of health professionals. Danison said health and wellness has always been an important part of her life. The Philo native received a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Physiology from Ohio University in Athens, and to top it off, she’s also a Certified Diabetes Educator.
“I’m in charge of giving orientations, that’s a free orientation that we offer to any of the members, they can come in and I can show them the equipment on the exercise floor, and kind of get them comfortable, and introduce them to all of the machines, and then we kind of set it specific to their body,” Danison said.
The Muskingum Recreation Center offers a little something for everyone. Not only does the facility feature a pool with a variety of aquatic classes, it also has 63 different cardio machines on its exercise floor. Danison said she looks forward to helping members find their perfect fit.
“It’s important for an Exercise Specialist to be here because a lot of people are intimidated to come to a gym, and they can come in and see all of the machines and not really know what to do with it, and they look scary at first, so I’m here to kind of make them comfortable, and make them feel welcome, and just show them how to use it, so the next time they come in they’ll know what to do,” Danison said.
