ZANESVILLE, Ohio- Students and staff at New Lexington Middle School are celebrating the success of the FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team.

This young team placed first in the southeast regional district 10 competition and also placed first at the state finals.

“I was hoping to we’d get into finals but, I never knew getting first was an option for us. This is the first year New Lexington done parliamentary procedure in a while. I think it’s really fun. And it’s a good way to get involve with FFA,” said Olivia Holman.

“We had a practice that was kind of rough. We were all worried that we we’re going to come back from it. We came back and we won. We were all proud of each other. I think the most I’ve gain is leadership. I had to lead the group. That’s one thing that I’m very happy that I’ve learned. I think that’s one thing that I lacked before” said Chair, Natalie Dunn

The community is also taking note showing their pride for the students accomplishments.

“We’re just extremely excited for our kids. This is an awesome opportunity. It’s just great,” New Lexington Schools Superintendent, Casey Coffey.

“I just can’t say how exciting it is. I taught school for 38 years. And this is one of the most amazing things I’ve seen happen in 38 years. It’s just incredible. I’m just so proud and I think it reflects our staff, our teachers. The New Lexington vocational agricultural program is a very respected program in this community,” said President of New Lexington School Board, John Mcgaughey.

Their next competition will be for the national title in October.
