New Muskingum County Engineer Appointed

Muskingum County Republican Party Chairman Pat Hennessey Wednesday night announced that the party has appointed a new County Engineer. Hennessey says there were three candidates for the job and one person who pulled out of consideration. Hennessey says the party chose Noble County Engineer Mark Eicher, who was a former Muskingum County Deputy Engineer for two years. Eicher already has a residence in Muskingum County. He will need to run in the November election to maintain the positon. The appointment was necessary after the death of Muskingum County Engineer Doug Davis. Davis was discovered deceased in his home on April 18th. State Auditor Dave Yost’s Office received a complaint in early December of 2017, alleging improprieties involving the engineer’s office. The Auditor’s Special Audit Task Force, comprised of senior staff in the Auditor’s Office, reviewed evidence gathered and voted to begin a preliminary investigation and audit.
